Custom or Cookie-Cutter Home?

Energy Smart Home Plans customers are very happy to have built a custom designed, super energy-efficient home for less money than what they would have spent for a big-box builder’s, energy-hog, tract home. Good for our lucky customers, too bad for those that simply don’t know what they are missing! Our mission is to get the word out!

Custom Hi-Performance Home, 1607 sq. ft. A/C anticipates a $45 electric bill (12 Month Avg). Cost to build $220,000 on the customer’s lot (with finished materials selected by customer).

It’s true, home-buyers who customize our plans and build on their lot, enjoy the benefits of a home perfectly suited to their family’s needs, as well as the lowest energy costs available. Many Energy Smart Home Plans customers report their last home was a big-box, big-disappointment and after a little “home-work,” they want their next home to be an Energy Smart Home.

So how can a custom hi-performance home cost less? Tract home buyers pay a premium for the big-box builder’s lot and higher profit margins as well as costly upgrades needed to make the house, well…livable. But the bad news is that tract home buyers invest in poorly designed and worse, poorly built energy-hog homes. Little did they know that when they bought that tract home, the owners also signed up for unnecessarily high energy bills. In fact, per square foot, two to three times the energy costs of an Energy Smart Home Plans designed home. Thus making that tract home much more costly to own until that happy day when it sells!
